About ApplicationTracker

ApplicationTracker is a free, independent service for South African firearm applicants who want to know where their application stands — without constantly checking the government enquiry page.

We track new firearm licence, competency certificate, and renewal applications automatically, and notify you by WhatsApp the moment your status changes.

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any government department. Status information is sourced from the publicly accessible SAPS enquiry system and is provided as-is.

Frequently asked questions

Is ApplicationTracker affiliated with the government?

No. ApplicationTracker is a completely independent service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to SAPS or any government department.

Is my data safe?

Yes. We comply with POPIA. Your personal information is never sold or shared with third parties. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from your account settings.

Will I see adverts in my WhatsApp notifications?

To keep the service free, our notifications may include a short message from a local advertiser. We never share your personal information with advertisers — their content is delivered to you, not the other way around.

How often is my application status checked?

Regularly, every couple of days per application. If the SAPS enquiry system is unreachable during a check, we skip that cycle and try again automatically.

What notifications will I receive?

A WhatsApp message every time your application status changes. You can toggle this on or off in your account settings.

Is ApplicationTracker free?

Yes. Completely free — supported by advertising.

Can I track more than one application?

Yes. Add as many as you need — new licences, competency certificates, and renewals all tracked in one dashboard.

What types of applications can I track?

New firearm licence applications, competency certificate applications, and licence renewals.

What if my application is not found?

It may not be in the system yet — your DFO has 6 weeks to capture your application. We'll keep checking and notify you as soon as anything shows up.

Why do I need to provide my province?

Province is used to show you geographically relevant advertising, which is what keeps the service free. Providing an accurate province ensures the ads you see are relevant to you.
